We use and develop new optical, X-ray, and analytical tools and use them to study how materials respond to their surroundings.

Focusing on the “in-between” scales, we seek to connect the dynamics and collective behaviors of atomic-scale structure to the bulk properties, focusing on the science underlying needs for sustainable manufacturing.
